Turki Ku Datang Lagi 2016 (13) : Pamukkale - Cotton Castle

The Cotton Castle, Pamukkale - Turkey
(Antique City of Hierapolis)

Pamukkale : The Cotton Castle of Turkey

Pamukkale in Aegean Turkey is also called the “Cotton Castle”, because of the white, cottony appearance of the mineral bath spas that abound the province, which is rich in calcium. Known as a “spa town” since the Roman era, tourists travel to Pamukkale to relax in warm, soothing and therapeutic waters in the myriad spas.

Sebelum masuk entrance, mata dah disogokkan dengan aiskrimTurki lagi. Aku leka tengok gelagat si penjual aiskrim tu serta baju tradisional yang dipakai nya, disarungkan di luar yang ala-ala vest itu.

Pamukkale is a small place, but it has remarkable spots to make your trip memorable such as the ruins of Hierapolis (ancient spa town), Sacred Pool (scattered marble columns add to the charm of this warm, calcium-dense pool), Travertines (calcium deposit terraces), Roman Theater and the archaeological Museum.

The ancient Greco-Roman city of Hierapolis was built on top of the white "castle" which is in total about 2,700 metres (8,860 ft) long, 600 m (1,970 ft) wide and 160 m (525 ft) high. It can be seen from the hills on the opposite side of the valley in the town of Denizli, 20 km away.

Pamukkale's terraces are made of travertine, a sedimentary rock deposited by water from the hot springs.

In this area, there are 17 hot water springs in which the temperature ranges from 35 °C (95 °F) to 100 °C (212 °F). The water that emerges from the spring is transported 320 metres (1,050 ft) to the head of the travertine terraces and deposits calcium carbonate on a section 60 to 70 metres (200 to 230 ft) long covering an expanse of 24 metres (79 ft) to 30 metres (98 ft).

When the water, supersaturated with calcium carbonate, reaches the surface, carbon dioxide de-gasses from it, and calcium carbonate is deposited. The depositing continues until the carbon dioxide in the water balances the carbon dioxide in the air. Calcium carbonate is deposited by the water as a soft jelly, but this eventually hardens into travertine.

Aku pulak, sibuk ambik gambar je.. hihii.. sebenarnya, malas nak tanggalkan kasut but ni..

Cantiknya theatre ini apabila disinari sunset..

ok, time untuk beredar keluar...

Pemandangan semasa berjalan keluar dari kawasan ini.
Speechless tengok pemandangan di waktu sunset..

Di luar ada deretan kedai souvenirs.
Apa lagi, masing-masing menyinggah lah jawabnya.. pening kepala tour guide nak mengawalnya.. heheheee :))

berbagai jenis cenderahati di sini..

Lampu gantung sebegini memang sangat ku suka. Dah lama ingat nak beli tapi tak terbeli juga sebab memikirkan saiz nya agak besar, susah untuk ku nak mengangkut berpindah-randah hotel, takut pecah. Tak tau lah bila dapat beli ni.. mungkin my next trip to Turki?

Selesai membeli barangan cenderahati di sini, kami pun bergerak menuju ke tempat bas parking dan seterusnya bergerak ke hotel.
