Turki Ku Datang Lagi 2016 (8) - Bursa Sightseeing

BURSA

According to legend, Bursa's Ulu Cami is where the traditional Turkish Karagöz shadow puppet theater began.

Karagöz ("Black Eye") is the name of the traditional Turkish shadow puppet theater.

The legend of Karagöz is said to have begun in Bursa when two men working on construction of the Ulu Cami in 1396 would perform impromptu comedy routines. They became very popular with the other workers, who would stop work to watch their antics. This slowed the progress of construction, and when the sultan heard of it, he condemned the two men, Karagöz and Hacivat, to death.

So the legend goes. Whatever may have happened to the comedians, the shadow play based on their jokes, pranks, fights, intrigues, stupidities and camaraderie survives and prospers to this day in Bursa and across Turkey.

Shadow puppets are flat figures cut from camel or donkey leather, oiled to make them translucent, then perforated and painted, and mounted perpendicularly at the end of sticks. A white sheet is hung as a screen, a strong light put behind it, and the puppets, pressed gently to the light-source side of the sheet, are animated by means of the sticks in the hands of a puppeteer.

 Green Mosque and Tomb

Green Mosque ni saya dah malas nak masuk, sebab dah letih nak buka kasut boot lagi.. so, tak ada lah gambar dalam nya. Saya cuma meninjau-ninjau kawasan sekitarnya saja.

Green Mosque, also known as Mosque of Mehmed I, is a part of the larger complex located on the east side of Bursa, Turkey, the former capital of the Ottoman Turks before they captured Constantinople in 1453.

GREEN MOSQUE AND TOMB

The mosque was built by prominent architect Hacı Ivaz Pasha at the request of Ottoman Sultan Celebi Mehmet between 1415 and 1419 years in Bursa, Turkey. Its ornamentations and handiworks were made by the period of great painters Haci Ali, Ilyas Ali. Also the grand artist Mehmet Mecnun furnished that spectacular mosque with the splendid tiles.

Located on the city named Green (Yesil in Turkish), Bursa, Green Mosque composes of mausoleum (Tomb) , madrasah, cultivation and Turkis Baths.

ARCHITECTURE

Due to its bluish green tiles and the turquoise color used in the ornaments, named as ‘’Green’’ the mihrab of that structure is 10 m high and reflects one of the best samples of tile decoration. Because the greater part of the Green Mosque is covered with tiles, they symbolise the brilliance of “Green Mosque”. The gathering place for the muezzin is also furnished with tiles to the Bursa arc. The place of the Sultan is also ornamented with deluxe tiles. The extra tiles at the place of the Sultan are decorated as flowers. Because of that, this mosque is also regarded as a masterpiece with its fascinating tiles.

Green Mausoleum..

tomb..
